“Something happened to you, and you weren’t consulted. But there will come a day for many of us when our aggressive growls or playing dead or huge feathery displays or chameleonism or hiding will simply no longer work. Our strategies will cause tension with people we love. Our props will get in the way of intimacy and connection with others and we will feel lonely. Our ways of being will actually keep us from so much of what we want in life—to be known, to be connected, to belong.”-Leeana Tankersley, Author
The pain you feel is real, no matter how big it is. Maybe it’s just a murmur in the background, a void or emptiness, or something yelling right at you. Whether that pain is from some life-changing event(s) in your life or it’s from something within your relationships and/or everyday life. Pain and suffering cannot be avoided, and no one goes through life unscathed. Growth is intentional and is a constant, continuous decision every day to participate in it. Healing pain and suffering is part of the growing process.
Hannah received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida. She received two Bachelors of Art Degrees in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Denison University. She started working in community mental health where she noticed trauma, anxiety, depression, and other pain and suffering were not being fully addressed. There was something missing in what she was seeing and what she was treating. This prompted her own growth. Hannah has her basic training in EMDR and is currently working towards certification. Hannah is Level 1 Trained in IFS. She believes in a mind-body approach to therapy by utilizing a holistic manner to address the many impacts of mental health on an individual’s mind, body, spirit, and functioning. Hannah is also in the process of becoming a registered play therapist. She believes using children’s natural and developmental language of play allows children to access what they need to in order to process whatever is keeping them stuck. Hannah is dedicated to grow professionally alongside her clients.
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor, Hannah approaches the therapeutic relationship in a supportive, authentic, and strength-based way. She believes her clients are experts and is only there to help guide the natural healing process. Hannah has worked with clients ages 5+; active duty service members, veterans, and first responders; and other various backgrounds providing trauma-informed therapy and care. If you want to find your best version of yourself, answers to questions you don’t quite have formulated, and/or inner contentment, Hannah wants to help. Let’s be brave together to find what you’re looking for. Let’s heal from the inside out.
Hannah provides supervision for dependently licensed social workers in the State of Ohio.
